    Mr Ioannis Papadopoulos practiced Law in Famagusta and Nicosia from 1959 – 1965.

    In 1965 he was elevated to the Bench as District Judge and in 1988 he became a Judge of the Supreme Court of Cyprus.

    After retiring in 1998 he acted as legal consultant to various legal Firms in Cyprus and abroad. He also acted as Arbitrator in a large number of disputes. In 2000 he was appointed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus as Chairman of the Law Commission to investigate into the affairs of the Cyprus Stock Exchange. This assignment took four years to complete due to the complexity of the issues, the voluminous accounts and the huge numbers of people involved. During that period Mr Papadopoulos was heading a team of highly specialised experts like Accountants, Auditors, IT experts, Lawyers etc.

    During his career as a Judge, Mr Papadopoulos tried and/or dealt with thousands of cases, both civil and criminal. In the High Court he also tried many cases in admiralty and administrative law.

    In the Supreme Court he also acted as an Appeal Court Judge reviewing cases which came up on Appeal from the District Courts.
